Barley Hops is a collaboration between agriculture students, marketing students, and design students to create innovative uses for Oregon State University’s new strain of Barley. Each team was given a unique challenge. My team was tasked with creating an interactive social experience using scratch-away materials to provide subjects for discussion and encourage social interaction.
Conceptualize, brand, and construct a social ale which uses OSU’s Golden Promise barley and scratch-away materials on the bottle.
By covering the bottle in a dark scratch-away material we provided a platform for a striking yet simple, high-contrast label design. Vibrant accent colors are used to signify the pops of color underneath the dark scratch-away exterior. Jokes, pick-up lines, and fun facts can be revealed by simply using the bottle cap as a scratching utensil.
